The Boogeyman is a 2023 American supernatural horror film directed by Rob Savage from a screenplay by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman and a screen story by Beck and Woods, based on the 1973 short story of the same name by Stephen King. The film stars Sophie Thatcher, Chris Messina, Vivien Lyra Blair, and David Dastmalchian.
The film follows two sisters, Sadie (Thatcher) and Sawyer (Blair), who are still reeling from the recent death of their mother. They’re not getting much support from their father, Will (Messina), a therapist who’s dealing with his own intense pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their house seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.
The Boogeyman was released in the United States on June 2, 2023, by 20th Century Studios.
Here are some of the things that I loved about the film:
- The film is a well-made and suspenseful horror film that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
- The cast is excellent, with Thatcher, Messina, Blair, and Dastmalchian all giving great performances.
- The film is visually stunning, with some truly terrifying imagery.
- The film is a faithful adaptation of the Stephen King short story.
Overall, The Boogeyman is a well-made and entertaining horror film that is sure to please fans of the genre.
